My journey into music
My name is Mary Lou, and music has become my way of transforming my life story into something meaningful. My songs are inspired by real emotions: anxiety, heartache, survival, motherhood, toxic relationships, healing, and the moments that have changed me.
I started creating music because writing has always been easier for me than speaking. Each song tells a part of my journey — the pain, the fear, the mistakes, but also the strength it took for me to keep going.
My goal is for people to feel less alone. If someone hears one of my songs and thinks, “I’ve felt that way too,” then my music has already accomplished what it was meant to do.
The style and sound of my songs
My music has an emotional pop-rock vibe, with honest lyrics and real stories behind every song. It blends vulnerability, pain, anxiety, heartache, survival, and healing, but always with a strong and hopeful message.
Even though many of my songs are emotional and personal, I also want to explore different moods, styles, and energies. Music is a way for me to express all parts of who I am — the gentle, the strong, the light, the dark, hope, and everything in between.
My style is inspired by the emotional pop-rock of the 2000s, alternative pop, and lived experiences. My songs are meant to be personal, touching, and cinematic, like diary pages transformed into music.
Inspiration and connection
What inspires me to create music is my own life story — the emotions I've experienced, the anxiety, the heartbreaks, the mistakes, the healing, and the moments that have made me stronger.
Music gives me a way to say things I haven't always been able to say out loud. It helps me transform pain into something true and meaningful.
I hope people feel understood when they listen to my songs. I want them to know that they are not alone in what they feel, whether it's love, loss, anxiety, survival, or a new beginning. My goal is to create songs that are true, emotional, and easy to connect with.
